About UKMCS
The UKMCS is an organisation which was created to help support healthcare professionals in managing women with cardiac disease better. It was set up to help advance the diagnosis and management of cardiac disease in pregnancy through awareness, education and research, and thereby to support the delivery of high quality, safe and equitable maternal cardiology care nationally and internationally.
Aims
Whilst the UKMCS is an affiliated society of the British Cardiovascular Society (BCS), it is truly a multidisciplinary society with a roughly equal split of members from cardiology, obstetrics and anaesthesia backgrounds. The membership is open to all healthcare professionals actively involved in the care of women with cardiac disease in pregnancy or research in this field. We have members from obstetrics, midwifery, cardiology, medicine, obstetric medicine, anaesthetics, pharmacy and nursing. We actively encourage this multidisciplinary working so as to learn and advance maternal cardiac care further.
If you are not already a member please consider becoming one and encourage any interested colleagues too.
